Siddhartha Car Bazar is basically me, Hemant Dhanawade, and a few guys hanging around cars all day. We spend a lot of time walking around the lot checking if the batteries are still charged. People come by wanting to see something cheap or something that doesn't rattle too much. I spend half my time doing paperwork that never seems to end. The office is small and usually smells like coffee and old seats. We try to keep the cars clean, but the dust settles back on them the moment we stop wiping. Selling cars isn't like you see on television. It's mostly just talking about mileage and looking at tires. I’ve been doing this for a while now. Some days nobody stops by and we just sit and watch the traffic. Other days three people want to talk at once. I try to be straight with people because I have to live here too. If a car has a dent, I show them the dent. There is no point hiding it. We don't have a shiny showroom with bright lights. It's just a lot with some cars parked on it. We check the oil, we wash the windows, and we wait for the phone to ring. It’s a bit slow sometimes, but I like being my own boss. I handle the keys and the titles myself so nothing gets lost. I don't think I'd be happy in a big office with a tie. Here I can just be myself and talk to people about what they need.
