We do all our work at Vijay Apartments in the Salisbury Park area of Gultekdi. Shree Gurudutt Furniture Manufacturing Co. isn't a big showroom with bright lights. It is more of a dusty place where we actually make the stuff. You can smell the sawed wood and the polish from the moment you walk near the door. We have benches set up where the guys spend their days cutting timber and fitting joints together. It’s a lot of manual work and we don't use many fancy automated machines. Most things are done by hand with saws and chisels. The floor is always covered in wood shavings, no matter how much we sweep. We make tables, chairs, and cabinets mostly. Sometimes people from the neighborhood drop by just to see how their order is coming along. It’s a nice part of town, quite green compared to the more industrial spots, but our little corner is definitely a working space. We don't have a big sales team. Usually, it's just one of us putting down a hammer to talk to whoever walks in. We take our time with the wood because if you rush it, the finish never looks right. It’s just us, some good quality wood, and a lot of daily effort to make pieces that will actually last in someone's home for a long time.
