Shingar Hair Pins is tucked away at 967 Raviwar Peth, on the second floor of Gulam Ali Chambers. If you know Raviwar Peth, you know it’s one of the busiest and most crowded markets you’ll ever see. The lanes are narrow, and there are people and scooters everywhere you look. Getting up to the second floor of the chambers takes you away from some of that noise, but you can still hear the shouting of the vendors below. We’ve been making hair pins here for a long time. It’s a small operation, and the space is filled with the sound of the small machines we use. There are boxes stacked up to the ceiling in some corners, full of the different types of pins we produce. It’s a bit of a maze inside, but we know where everything is. The lighting isn't the best, but we’ve got extra lamps over the workbenches so we can see what we are doing. Most of the people working here live in the surrounding neighborhoods and have been part of the team for ages. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. People just come up the stairs when they need to talk to us or pick up an order. It’s an old-fashioned way of doing things, but it works for us. We just keep our heads down and keep the machines running to meet the demand. It is a simple life for us.
