Shankeshwara Alloys Pvt Ltd is spread across a few plots, 245 through 49, on Senapati Bapat Road near the Hatkeshwar Road junction. It’s a bit of a sprawling setup, and if you are coming for the first time, you might miss the entrance because of the trees. We’ve got a lot of heavy stuff moving around here all the time. The floor is usually covered in a bit of metal dust, which is just part of the job when you work with alloys. It is hot work, especially when the furnaces are going full tilt. We have some old machines that have been with us since the start, and they still do the job better than anything else we’ve tried. The walls are stained with years of work, but that doesn't bother anyone. We spend our time checking the mixes and making sure the pours are going okay. It’s not the kind of place where you wear a suit. We wear heavy boots and clothes that we don't mind getting dirty. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we go when we need a break from the noise. The traffic on Senapati Bapat Road is always humming in the background, but inside the gates, we are in our own world. We just focus on the metal and making sure everything is loaded onto the trucks correctly before the sun goes down.
