Senior Accountant

I am an accountant working out of Sultanpur. It is a small place in the Ambegaon area of the Pune district. I handle all sorts of money matters for the local folks and the small shops that run nearby. Most of my day is spent looking at ledger books and bank statements. I did not want to move to the big city, so I stayed here in the village to help out. People stop by the post office and then they come over to see me with their papers. I have got a lot of files stacked up on my shelves. It is not a shiny corporate office, just a room with a good wooden table and some chairs. I do the taxes and keep track of daily expenses for people. Sometimes the government regulations change and I have to read up on them at night. It is quiet here, which is good for focusing on calculations. I know how hard people work for their money, so I try to be very careful with their records. If there is a mistake in a column, I find it and fix it. I have been in Sultanpur for a long time now. My neighbors know me as the guy who likes numbers and doesn't talk too much. I do not use a lot of jargon when I talk to people about their money. I just tell them what they owe or what they saved. It is simple, honest work that keeps the village running. I am usually around if someone has a question about a bill or a form.
