Our office for Semco Electric is actually in an apartment, Flat No. E 10 at Shriram Sahanivas. It’s in the Katraj area of Pune. Using a residential building for business makes it feel a bit more relaxed than a standard office block. You have to buzz the gate to get in, and then come up to the flat. It’s a very local way of doing things in Maharashtra. We have desks set up in what used to be the living room and bedrooms. It is a bit tight when we have a full team in, but it works fine for what we do. Katraj is a busy part of the city, so there is always something happening outside. We mostly deal with the administrative side of the electric business from this location. There are files stacked on the shelves and the sound of printers going most of the morning. We don’t have a big neon sign out front, just the nameplate on the door like everyone else in the building. It feels like home, except we are working on electrical contracts and billing. We know the neighbors, and they know we are just here doing our jobs. It’s a quiet environment once you are inside the flat. We don't have a canteen or anything, we just make our own tea in the small kitchen area. It’s a simple, honest way to run our Pune operations without needing a giant building.
