About Satish Ghanekar – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Pune
People around Nigdi mostly know me by name, and I’ve been based here for quite a few years. It’s a decent area to work in, pretty central for getting around to see people. I don’t have one of those big glass offices you see in the city. Instead, I just work from my place here, keeping things simple and straightforward. My day usually starts early with a quick look at what needs doing, then I’m usually out the door. It’s a lot of face-to-face stuff, which I prefer over sitting at a computer all day long. Sometimes the work is slow and other times everything happens at once, but that’s just how it goes when you’re running your own thing. I don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what I do. I just handle the jobs as they come in and try to make sure everything is sorted out by the time I head home for dinner. My workspace is a bit of a mess, honestly. There are folders piled up and notes scribbled on the backs of old envelopes. I know where everything is, though, even if it doesn't look like it to anyone else. Living and working in the same neighborhood means I run into people I know at the market or the tea stall, and we end up talking shop. It’s a small community vibe, and I’ve always liked that about being here in Nigdi.
