Sardar G Shikshak Foundation

Our office is located in Wing B of the A1 Building here in Kate Puram. We are in Flat 11, which is a cozy spot for our foundation. Being in Haveli, Pune, we are slightly away from the main city rush, but it still gets quite busy around here during school hours. We have a few desks pushed against the walls to make room for all the books and teaching aids we keep on hand. The walls are mostly bare except for a few schedules taped up with masking tape. Sometimes we have meetings on the floor because we ran out of chairs. It’s a very hands-on environment. The morning starts with someone trying to find the keys to the supply cupboard. We work with a lot of local teachers and students, so the doorbell is always ringing. We don’t have a fancy sign outside, just a small nameplate. The kitchen usually smells like ginger tea because that’s what we drink all day. Sometimes the internet goes out when it rains heavily, and we have to wait it out. It’s just a normal workplace with normal people. We try to stay on top of the paperwork, but it tends to pile up on the corner table. We’ve become a bit of a fixture in this building over the years. Most of us live nearby so we just walk to work. We spend a lot of time just talking things through and making sure things are done right.
