Being in Pune for Sandvik Asia Ltd means dealing with the city’s constant energy. It’s a big place and we’re just one small part of it. The office is located in an area that gets quite a lot of traffic, especially during the morning rush. We’ve all learned to leave our houses a bit earlier than necessary just to make sure we’re at our desks on time. The building we’re in is pretty standard for this part of town. It’s got a lift that sometimes works and stairs that we use more often anyway. Inside, it’s mostly just desks, computers, and a lot of coffee cups. We don't have any fancy decorations on the walls. It’s a functional space for people who have work to do. Pune weather is usually decent, which is a plus, but when the rains come, the whole city slows down. We spend our days mostly looking at screens and talking to people on the other end of the line. It’s not the kind of job that gets talked about much, but it’s important to keep the wheels turning. We have a small corner where we keep the kettle for tea. That’s probably the most popular spot in the office. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a polished image. We’re just local staff members doing our jobs and looking forward to the weekend like everyone else in the city.
