Sai Udyog

Sai Udyog operates out of an apartment building on Sinhgad Road in Pune. It is Flat 16 in the Sham Sunder complex. If you’ve ever been to Vitthal Nagar, you know how the traffic can get out there, so we usually try to get our deliveries done early in the morning. The office is basically a converted residential space, so it feels very much like a home. We have shelves lined with various items and a couple of desks pushed against the walls. It’s not a polished corporate environment, just a place where we get our daily business done. Most of the day is spent handling orders and talking to people on the phone. We’ve been in this Pune neighborhood for quite a while, and the neighbors are used to seeing people coming and going from our unit. Sometimes the elevator in the building acts up, so we end up taking the stairs more than we’d like. Working from an apartment means we have to be smart about how we use the space, so things can get a bit crowded when new stock arrives. We don’t have a fancy website or a huge team of sales people. We just focus on the orders we have and try to make sure everything gets sent out to the right address. It is a small operation, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday without much of a break.
