If you’ve ever been down Sinhagad Road, you know how busy it gets around Wadgaon Bk. Our office is tucked into Vastushilpa Apartment, specifically at number nine. It’s a pretty standard place, nothing too flashy, just where we handle the day-to-day stuff for the construction work we do for the government. Being a government contractor means a lot of our time is spent dealing with paperwork and waiting on various offices, but that’s just how it goes in this line of work. Jadhav Nagar is a decent area to be based in, even if the parking can be a bit of a headache during the peak hours. We’ve been at this for a while now, mostly focusing on the structural side of things. Usually, there’s a couple of us in the office while the rest of the crew is out at different sites across Pune. The phone rings a lot, mostly people asking about progress or some new regulation that’s come out. We try to keep things simple here. There’s a tea stall just around the corner where we usually end up talking about the day’s problems. It’s not like those big corporate offices you see in the IT parks. We have old files stacked up and some maps pinned to the walls. It feels like a real workspace. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty with all the plans lying around, but we manage just fine. That’s pretty much us in a nutshell, just working through the daily grind.
