Sadguru Garage

Our garage is located on Baner Road, 2nd Main Road, in the 1st Block of Byrasandra Sus Road. It is a place filled with the sound of metal clanking and engines running. We have oil stains on the floor that have been there for years and no amount of scrubbing gets them out. There are usually three or four cars parked in various states of repair. We have tools scattered across the workbenches, though we try to keep the important ones in the drawers. The air always smells like gasoline and burnt rubber. We do not have a fancy waiting room; just a couple of plastic chairs under a tree outside. We spend a lot of time under hoods or lying on boards to look at the underside of vehicles. Sometimes we get a car that is a real puzzle and it stays with us for a week. We drink a lot of tea while we figure things out. The walls are covered with old calendars and posters of car parts. We open up when the sun starts getting warm and usually stay until it is too dark to see. The neighborhood around Baner has grown a lot, so we see more modern cars now than we used to. We just keep our heads down and work on whatever comes through the gate. It is greasy work but it is what we do.
