Our little spot in Pashan 1 is where we handle all the details for our building projects. It’s not a huge operation, just a few of us trying to make sense of blueprints and permits. Pashan is a nice area and we like being based here. We spend a lot of time on the phone with contractors or arguing with suppliers about when the sand is going to arrive. Being a developer sounds like it might be grand, but really it's just a lot of checking on things and making sure the bricks are straight. We have a small office where we keep all the files and drawings spread out on the table. It’s usually a bit of a mess with coffee mugs and rolls of paper everywhere. We don’t do the shiny brochures. Usually, we just walk people over to the site and show them what’s happening in person. That seems to work better anyway. People want to see the actual work, not a picture. We’ve had some good years and some slow ones, but we’re still here. It takes a lot of patience to get things built right. We’ve learned that over the years. You can’t rush the concrete or the paperwork. We just take it one day at a time and try to finish what we started without too much trouble. It’s a plain way to work but it keeps us going.
