We’re over at Shop No 2 in the Vishwashanti Building. Raviwar Peth is always crowded, especially on the weekends. Our shop is number 1045. It’s not the biggest space, but we pack a lot into it. Mostly we sell tools for different trades. People come from all over the area because they know we’ve been here a long time. The building itself is older. We have shelves all the way to the ceiling. Sometimes you need a ladder just to find a specific wrench. It’s a bit of a maze back there. I usually work the counter. My nephew helps out during the holidays. We don’t have a website or anything like that. People just drop by or call the landline. We drink a lot of tea while we work. The street noise is constant, but you get used to it after a few weeks. We stock what people need. If a specific tool isn't moving, we stop carrying it. It's pretty straightforward. We don't have uniforms. Just regular clothes that get a bit greasy sometimes. That’s just part of the job when you handle metal all day. We open early because that's when the workmen are starting their day. It’s a decent life. Most days are about the same, and we like it that way. We just keep the shop open and talk to the people who come in for help.
