Royal Connaught Boat Club

Royal Connaught Boat Club is situated right on Bund Garden Road, not far from Saint Felix High School. It’s a place with a lot of history behind it, but we try to keep things feeling grounded. We’ve got the river right there, and people come by to use the boats or just sit and have a meal. It isn't just about the rowing, though that's a big part of it. We have the clubhouse and the grounds where members spend their time. The staff here has been around for years, and we know most of the regulars by name. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned setup, which we like. We don't go for flashy modern updates unless something really needs fixing. The gardens take a lot of work to keep up, and the boats need constant maintenance because of the water. On the weekends, it gets quite lively with families and people looking to get away from the city noise for a bit. We spend a lot of time organizing local events and making sure the kitchen is running okay. It’s a lot of practical management, from checking the water levels to making sure the chairs are out. We aren't trying to be a five-star resort; we just want a comfortable place for people to gather and enjoy the river. Being near the school means we see a lot of traffic, but once you step inside, it’s a different world. It’s just how we operate.
