Ross Boilers

Ross Boilers operates out of No. 33 in the Burhani Industrial Estate, which is in the Kondhwa Bhudruk area of Pune. It is a typical industrial spot where there is always some kind of construction or repair going on nearby. Our unit is one of those places where you really need to watch your step because there is usually some piece of steel or a tool on the floor. We build boilers, so the work is heavy and often quite dirty. There is no air conditioning in the main workshop, just big fans that move the hot air around while the guys are welding. It gets pretty loud when the hammers start going. The industrial estate itself has been around for a while, and you can see that in the cracked pavement and the old walls. Most of us have been working together for years, so we have a rhythm down. We do not spend money on fancy brochures or big ads. We just focus on the metalwork in front of us. In the afternoons, the sun hits the corrugated roof and it gets warm, so we take breaks for cold water or tea from the guy who comes around on his cycle. It is basic, honest labor and we do not try to make it sound like anything else. We just make the units and ship them out to whoever ordered them.
