Our Kasarwadi office is located in Sagar Plaza, right on the highway side of things. It’s building number 36. Being in Kasarwadi means we’re right in the heart of the industrial belt, so there’s always a lot of movement and noise from the nearby factories and the railway line. Sagar Plaza itself is a busy place with all sorts of small businesses crammed in. Our unit is basically a workspace filled with cupboards, drafting tables, and a few old chairs that have definitely seen better years. We don’t spend much on decor because we’d rather focus on the actual construction work. The walls are mostly covered with calendars and site maps. It gets pretty dusty with all the traffic outside, so we have to wipe down the desks every single morning before we start. Most of the time, the office is a hub for the guys coming in from the sites to pick up their pay or discuss problems with the foundation work. We drink a lot of tea here, usually from the guy downstairs who brings it up in those little glass cups. It’s a hardworking atmosphere, no doubt about it. You can hear the trains passing every few minutes, which kind of keeps you on track with the time. It’s not the quietest place in Pune, but it’s where we’ve been for years and it works for us. The stairs in the building are a bit steep, so we get our exercise too.
