Our base is at Sankalp Residency in Dhayari. It is a quiet enough spot in Pune most of the time. We have been here at Plot No 38 for a few years now. Most days I am out at a site and the flat is empty. We do a lot of the small-scale building work around the Dhayari area because it is easier to stay close to home. Traffic in Pune can be a real nightmare if you try to go too far across town with a truck full of bricks or cement. We have a couple of helpers who show up when there is a big concrete pour or a lot of heavy lifting to do. It is mostly just us handling the day-to-day tasks. We don't have those big yellow machines of our own, so we just rent what we need for the week from a guy we know. It keeps the monthly bills a bit lower. We focus on getting the foundations right and making sure the walls are straight. It is not a fancy business at all. We don't wear suits or carry briefcases. Usually, I am just in old jeans and a worn-out t-shirt. Sometimes things go wrong on a job, like a pipe leaks or a delivery is late, but we just fix it and move on. People in the society know who we are. We have done a few kitchen updates and balconies around this block. It is honest work and it keeps us busy. We don't spend any money on ads. If the work is okay, the next job usually shows up.
