About Ramesh Mundada – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Pune
Raviwar Peth is always loud, and being at number 606 means we are right in the heart of the market chaos. My name is on the sign, and I’ve been sitting in this same spot for years. The shop is narrow and stacked high with ledgers and stock. You have to watch your step because there’s usually a delivery being unpacked on the floor. We handle a lot of different goods, mostly wholesale stuff that moves fast. It’s a traditional setup. I have a small wooden desk where I do all the billing by hand or on the old computer when it decides to work. My staff has been with me for a long time, so we don't really need to talk much to know what needs doing. We get the trucks in early, unload, and then wait for the retailers to come by. It gets really hot in the afternoons, so we have a couple of noisy fans that just push the air around. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s steady. Customers know they can find me here from ten in the morning until late evening. We don’t do much fancy talk. If we have the item, we tell you. If not, we tell you when it’s coming. That’s just how Raviwar Peth works, and I wouldn't know how to do it any other way. We just keep our heads down and handle the daily trade as it comes through the door. Most days we eat lunch right here among the boxes.
