Our workspace is over at Sundaram Arcade, Shop 7, in the Bibwewadi area. It is a busy little spot in Pune where we spend most of our waking hours. As a designer setup, we have a lot of things squeezed into a relatively small area. There are rolls of fabric in the corners and sketches pinned up on the walls wherever there is space. We have a couple of machines that hum along during the day, and sometimes the floor is covered in small bits of thread and cloth scraps that we have to sweep up before we leave. It’s a bit messy, but that is just how we work. We don't have a big fancy storefront with mannequins in the window; we prefer to keep things low-key and focus on the actual making of things. The arcade has a lot of other small businesses, so there is always someone walking past or popping their head in to say hello. We drink a lot of tea to keep us going, especially in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop. It is a simple life of measuring, cutting, and stitching. We don’t try to be something we aren't. We just enjoy the process of creating things and seeing how they turn out. The table in the center is where everything happens, from drawing designs to final checks. It’s our little corner of Bibwewadi where we just get on with it.
