Quantity Surveyor

We are tucked away in Flat No 9 at Lalwani Residency. It’s right on the lane where the Shree Gym is, just off Vimannagar in Pune. Living and working in Sopan Nagar is pretty convenient. I do the quantity surveying from here. It is mostly a one-man show, but sometimes I get help when the projects get too big. My workspace is basically just a large table covered in site maps and some pens that usually don't work. I don't have a fancy corporate office because I'd rather keep my costs down for the clients. Pune is a busy place for building right now, so I stay quite occupied. Most days involve calculating how many bricks or how much steel a project needs. It’s not flashy work. I talk to a lot of site engineers on the phone. Sometimes the gym next door gets a bit loud with the music, but you get used to it after a while. I’ve lived in this area for years, so I know the local market rates pretty well. If someone needs a budget done, they just drop by the flat. We sit down, look at the plans, and I tell them what it’s going to take. It is a very simple way of doing business. No jargon, just real numbers. I like being my own boss in this little corner of the city and seeing how much things change.
