Rui is a quiet place in the Hatkanangale area of Kolhapur, and that’s where you’ll find our workshop. Satish Ramchandra Kumbhar is usually around the place, making sure things are moving along. It is a very local operation. We don’t have a fancy reception or a person in a suit greeting you at the door. You’ll probably find someone with grease on their hands instead. We handle engineering work that comes from the nearby farms and small factories. It’s a lot of manual work, and the machines we use are old but reliable. We like it that way. In this part of Kolhapur, word travels fast, so we try to do a decent job so nobody has a reason to complain. The air is a bit cleaner here than in the city, though it gets quite dusty when the trucks pass by on the main road. We have our tea breaks under the shade when the sun gets too strong. It is a simple life, really. We aren't trying to be the biggest company out there; we just want to make sure the stuff we build or fix actually works for the people who pay us. Some days are slow, and other days everyone wants their work done at the same time. We just take it one day at a time and do what needs doing without making a huge fuss about it.
