Our workshop is tucked away in Erandwane, specifically over in the society area near East Street. It is a bit of a maze back here, but we like the location. Patson Machines has been operating out of this spot for a good bit of time. We work on different types of machines, depending on what the current projects are. Some mornings start with a lot of tea and looking at diagrams before we actually touch any metal. We aren't a massive factory with thousands of workers. It’s more of a tight-knit group where everyone knows whose turn it is to clean up. Erandwane is a nice part of Pune, though the traffic gets a bit much near the camp area. Inside the shop, it’s mostly about the sound of drills and the smell of oil. We don’t really do big advertisements or anything like that. Most people find us because they heard about what we do from someone else. We spend a lot of time on the floor fixing issues or putting parts together. Sometimes a machine doesn't behave, and we spend all day figuring it out. That’s just part of the job. It gets dusty, and our clothes usually have a few stains by noon. We keep a simple setup at C 11. It’s not flashy, but it serves the purpose. We just aim to finish the work and go home to our families. Every day is different depending on the orders we have on the books.
