Working at Patodia Glass Industries Ltd. means dealing with a lot of heat and heavy lifting. We are located at Gat No. 375, just off the Nagar Road in Koregaon Bheema. The commute out here to the Shirur district can be a bit of a pain depending on the traffic, which is usually bad. Once you get inside the plant, you forget about the road though. It is loud and the air feels thick because of the glass work. We have big sheets of glass leaning against the walls, and you have to be careful how you move around. We spend a lot of our shift watching the machines and making sure the edges are coming out right. It is a long day, and your back usually hurts by the time you head home. We wear these heavy gloves because the edges are sharp enough to cut you without you even noticing at first. The guys on the floor have been here for years, so we all know the routine. We don't talk much while the machines are running because you can't hear anything anyway. Lunch is the best part of the day when we can sit outside for a bit away from the noise. There is always a layer of fine dust on everything, no matter how much we sweep. It is just the nature of working with glass. We just focus on getting the crates loaded onto the trucks so they can head out. It is hard work, but it keeps us busy.
