Omkar Tailor

Omkar Tailor is right on the Main Road in Lohegaon. It is a small shop with a couple of sewing machines. You can hear the clicking of the needles from the sidewalk. I spend most of my day bent over a table with a measuring tape around my neck. There are piles of fabric everywhere. Different colors and textures stacked up to the ceiling. It is a bit disorganized, but I know where everything is. People come in for all sorts of things, mostly repairs or getting clothes fitted. I have been sewing since I was a teenager. It is what I know. The Main Road is always loud, but inside the shop, I just focus on the thread. Sometimes my wife helps with the buttons and the finishing touches. We do not have a big sign, just the name on the door. It is a simple trade. I like the feeling of finishing a piece and seeing it fit right. We do not do anything fancy or high-fashion. It is just everyday clothes for the people living here in Lohegaon. Some days my back hurts from sitting too long, so I stand by the door and watch the people go by. It is a good community. We have been here a long time. Omkar Tailor is just a part of the street now. We keep the machines running and the scissors sharp. It is honest work for honest pay.
