Nrutyawali Foundation

Our place is tucked away in Lokmanya Nagar, right near the Datta Mandir. If you know that area of Pune, you know it’s quite traditional and busy on festival days. The foundation name, Nrutyawali, basically tells you we care about dance and movement. We’ve been in this building at 11A/145 for a good while. It’s a humble spot, nothing fancy. You can often hear the temple bells from our window, especially in the evenings when things settle down. We spend our days teaching or talking about classical movements and traditions. It’s not a big corporate setup. Mostly, it’s just us and the students who come and go. The floor is a bit worn out from all the practice, but that just shows how much work happens here. We have some old mirrors on the walls and a few stacks of mats in the corner. People drop by after visiting the temple. We usually have the door open to let some air in because it gets warm in the afternoons. It’s a very local vibe here. We don’t do big advertisements or anything like that. Most people find us through word of mouth from their neighbors. Sometimes the traffic outside is loud, but once the music starts, you don't really notice it much. We try to keep things simple and focus on the art itself. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We aren't trying to be famous.
