Niche Cutting Tools

Niche Cutting Tools is tucked away in the Chintamani Industrial Estate in Hadapsar. It is unit number 11, near Ramtekadi. The estate itself is quite large, and it can be a bit tricky to find us if you do not know the landmarks well. We have got these heavy machines that make a rhythmic humming noise all day long. It becomes like background music after a while. Most of the guys working here have a real feel for the metal. They can tell if a tool is slightly off just by the sound it makes against the grinder. The floor is usually covered in tiny metal shavings, so everyone wears thick-soled boots to stay safe. We do not have air conditioning in the main workspace, just some big industrial fans that move the hot air around. In the summer, it gets pretty warm, but we are used to it. There is a small office space near the front where we keep the blueprints and the phone. It is mostly quiet in there, except when the delivery trucks pull up outside and the dogs start barking. We spend a lot of time measuring things down to the millimeter. It is tedious work, but it has to be done right. No one here is wearing a suit or tie. We are usually in our work clothes, often with a bit of oil on our sleeves. It is just how things go when you are working with tools and steel every day.
