You can find us at the District Shopping Centre in Kondhwa Budruk, we are at unit number 8. It is a solid brick building and we have been here for a good while. Dealing with batteries means we are always lifting heavy things, so our backs usually ache by the time we close up. New Pooja Battery is the name on the sign, though it’s a bit faded from the sun. We keep all sorts of batteries stacked up along the walls—mostly for cars and bikes, but some for home backups too. The floor is concrete and has some stains on it from the battery acid over the years. It’s not a pretty shop, but it gets the job done. The shopping centre gets busy on the weekends, but during the week, it is mostly just people from the neighborhood dropping by. We have a small desk where we test the old batteries to see if they can still hold a charge. Sometimes they are just dead and there is nothing we can do but recycle them. We don't talk much unless someone has a question about which battery fits their vehicle. It is a quiet kind of work, just moving boxes and checking voltages. We stay open until late evening because that is when most people realize their car won't start for the next morning.
