You can find New Krishna Battery over at Market Yard on M G Road. It’s a spot where the air always smells a little bit like chemicals and old metal. We deal with all kinds of batteries here. The shop is filled with heavy black boxes and cables. M G Road is always packed with people and vehicles, so there is never a dull moment. We spend our time testing batteries and cleaning terminals. Our hands usually have some grease or stains on them that won't come off with just soap. It’s a tough job lifting those heavy units all day. We have a small bench where we do the repairs. The floor is concrete and it’s taken a beating from the battery acid and the heavy weights. Market Yard is a chaotic place, but we like being in the middle of it. We don't have any fancy waiting area. People usually just stand around or go get a tea while we check their battery. It’s a straightforward business. We’ve been at this location for years, and the shop hasn't changed much. We have a calendar on the wall from three years ago that we never took down. It’s just how it is. We show up, do the work, and close the shutters when the sun goes down. Most of the time it’s just the two of us here dealing with the daily grind of the market and the customers who drop by.
