Sahara Rolling Shutter

We’re located on Dehu- Alandi Road in Moshi. It’s a busy stretch of road, so there’s always trucks and cars passing by making a lot of noise. Our workshop is where we do all the cutting and welding for the shutters. It’s not the cleanest place, usually there’s metal shavings on the floor and the smell of grease everywhere. That’s just the nature of the work we do. We start early, usually before the traffic gets really bad on the main road. Most of the day is spent measuring things out or fixing a motor that’s acting up. It can get pretty hot in the afternoon under the tin roof, but we’re used to it by now. We don't have any fancy signs or a big showroom, just the workspace where the actual work happens. Sometimes people stop by because they saw us from the road while they were driving to Alandi. We just talk to them right there among the tools. It’s a lot of physical labor, lifting heavy metal parts and making sure everything fits together right. Sometimes we stay late if a job needs to get finished for the next morning. It’s a small crew here, just a few of us who have been doing this for years. We know the machines well and we just keep our heads down and work. There is always a lot of dust from the road, so we clean up every night.
