Monarch Surveyors

Our office is up in the Hill Top Housing Society in Dhankawadi, Pune, just behind the Marathi school. Being surveyors means we spend about half our time out in the fields or on dusty development sites and the other half back here at the computer drawing up maps. We use a lot of technical gear like total stations and GPS units, which can be a bit temperamental sometimes. Carrying that heavy equipment up and down hillsides in the Pune heat is not for everyone. We have to be very careful with the measurements because a small mistake can cause big problems for someone later on. The office is full of old maps and digital printouts. We are a small team and we usually start our days pretty early to beat the worst of the traffic and the sun. Sometimes we have to deal with difficult terrain or overgrown plots where it’s hard to even see where the boundary markers were supposed to be. It isn't a very glamorous job, and we often come back covered in mud or dust, but it is important work for any new building project. We just try to get the numbers right and provide the data that the builders and landowners need. We’ve been working around this part of Pune for quite some time now and know the local geography and the land records pretty well. It’s just what we do.
