Manikchand Plywood is located at number 77 right in the middle of the Timber Market in Bhavani Peth. This whole area is dedicated to wood, so the air always smells like fresh sawdust and glue. It is a very busy and dusty place to work. We have large sheets of plywood stacked high up to the ceiling. Most of our day is spent measuring wood and helping carpenters load their three-wheelers. The street outside is narrow and often blocked by trucks unloading heavy logs or boards. We don't have a fancy showroom with glass windows. It is more like a warehouse where everything is open to the air. Our clothes usually get covered in wood dust by the end of the day. We have been in Bhavani Peth for a long time and know most of the other traders around here. When it rains, we have to hurry to cover everything up so the wood doesn't get warped or damp. It is hard physical work and our hands are usually a bit rough from handling the boards. We just serve the people who come in, mostly contractors and builders who know exactly what thickness they need. There is no sitting around in chairs here; we are usually on our feet on the concrete floor. It is a basic, honest business that runs on the hard work of the staff in a very busy market.
