Started out years ago here in Bibwewadi. Sola 64 is where we keep all the files and meet folks who stop by to talk about their projects. It’s a busy part of town. We spend most of our days out on the sites, dealing with contractors and making sure the bricks and sand show up on time. Construction is a lot of waiting around for things to dry or for trucks to arrive, so we’ve learned to be patient over the years. Most people around here know us because we’ve been in this same spot for a while now. The office isn’t much to look at, just some desks and a lot of rolled-up drawings that never seem to stay organized, but it works for what we do. Sometimes the power goes out or the traffic on the main road makes us late for meetings, but that’s just how it goes living and working in Pune. We handle the developers side of things too, which means a lot of paperwork and talking to the local authorities. It’s not always exciting work, but seeing a building actually stand up after months of digging in the dirt is a good feeling. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit since we set up shop. New shops are opening up and there are more cars every year. We just keep doing our thing, one brick at a time, trying to keep the dust off our shirts. If you walk past Sola 64, you’ll probably see our old sign and some of the guys hanging around.
