We operate out of a traditional space at 1574 Shukrawar Peth. This part of the city is always crowded, so getting here can be a bit of a challenge if you’re driving. We do general trading, which means we buy and sell all sorts of goods depending on the season and what the market wants. The shop is old and has that specific smell of wood and dust that stays with you. We don’t have a website or any of that fancy modern stuff. Most of our customers are people who have been coming to us for decades. We sit on the floor or on small stools while we talk business over a cup of tea. It’s a very hands-on way of doing things. The ledger is hand-written most of the time. We aren’t interested in expansion or opening more branches in other areas. We like it right here in the Peth. The street outside is full of life and sometimes we just watch the world go by from the doorway when things are slow. If a shipment is late, we just wait it out and talk. It’s a slower pace of life than the modern offices. We handle things personally and try to treat people right. There’s no big philosophy behind it, just the way our family has done things for a long time. It’s simple and it works for us.
