M M Engravers

M M Engravers is located at Kalapinagar 131/7B, near Kailash Nagar. My dad started this shop and I’ve been here since I was a kid. We do a lot of nameplates and small signs on different materials. The shop is small and tucked away in Khadki Umiyanagar. It’s usually pretty loud because of the machines running all day. We have bits of metal shavings all over the floor by noon. People bring us things they want marked or etched. Sometimes it’s a trophy, other times it’s a piece for a machine. We use some old tools and a couple of newer ones too. It takes a steady hand to get the lines straight. I usually sit at the workbench in the back where the light is better. My brother helps with the deliveries and talking to people who walk in. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where we are in the neighborhood. The 131/7B address is easy to find once you get into the lane. We spend a lot of time just measuring things twice so we don't mess up the material. It’s a quiet life except for the drill noises. We just try to get the orders done by the time people need them. Often, we are still finishing up a project late into the evening when the street gets quiet.
