Laxmi Winding & Power Tools is tucked away in Katraj, right behind Bharti Vidyapeeth at the Shtrunjay Society. It’s a handy spot for people in the neighborhood who have a broken motor or a drill that stopped working. I’ve been doing motor winding for years now. It’s tedious work, sitting there with the copper wire and making sure everything is tight and correct. The shop is filled with power tools waiting to be fixed—saws, grinders, drills, you name it. It can get a bit cluttered with all the spare parts and half-finished jobs. Sometimes people come in in a real hurry because their work has stopped, and I try to help them out as fast as I can. It’s just me and a helper most days. We don't have a big sign out front, just enough for folks to find us at number 7. The society is usually quiet, but the shop has the constant hum of testing equipment. We don't promise miracles, just that we’ll take a look and see if it's worth repairing. Many times, it's just a simple fix, but other times the whole thing needs a complete overhaul. We keep a ledger of all the work we do. It’s a small, local business and we like it that way. We get to know the regulars, and they know they can just drop by when something breaks. It’s just honest, manual labor that keeps our days full and busy.
