Landabooks Ltd. is tucked away in Yamuna Nagar, over in the Nigdi area. It’s a bit of a quieter part of town, which is nice for a book business. We’ve been here for several years now. The building is a simple concrete structure, and we’ve filled it up with as many shelves as we could fit. We don’t have any fancy marketing people or a big sales team. It’s just a few of us who handle the books and the shipping. The back of the shop gets a little dark, so we have some extra lamps hanging from the ceiling. Nigdi is a good place to be, and we’ve gotten to know the neighbors pretty well. There’s a mechanic next door and a small tea shop on the corner where we go every day at four. It’s a bit of a routine for us. We deal with all kinds of books, mostly focusing on getting them out to people who need them. The shelves are tall, and I often have to climb a rickety wooden ladder to reach the top rows. It’s a bit scary sometimes, but you get used to it. We don’t have a polished showroom or anything like that. It’s more of a working warehouse and office combined. The floor is often covered in bubble wrap and packing tape. It’s a bit messy, but that’s just how it is when you’re busy. We just do our work and go home at the end of the day. No big fuss.
