Kurti Handicraft is situated on Sus Road in the Pashan area. We are part of the Haveli taluka in Pune district. Our place is quite close to the police station in Baner, which makes it easy to explain our location to people. It’s a busy road, and there’s always a lot of traffic going past the door. Inside, the shop is filled with different kinds of fabric and finished kurtis. We don't have everything perfectly organized; there are usually stacks of cloth on the tables and threads hanging from the racks. We spend most of our time at the sewing machines or talking to customers who come in to see the handicrafts. It’s a bit dusty because of all the textiles, and the lighting could probably be better in the back corner. We’ve been in this part of Pune for a while and know the local rhythms well. The monsoon season can be a bit of a challenge with the rain coming in near the door, but we manage. We don't have any corporate branding or fancy sales pitches. We just show the work we do and hope people like the traditional styles. It’s a local operation, and we like it that way. Most of our days are spent cutting fabric or fixing small mistakes in the embroidery. It’s a lot of manual work, but it keeps us busy. We just keep doing what we know how to do.
