Kumkum Stones

At Kumkum Stones, we spend most of our time out in the yard or in the office at Kalewadi Patel Market, Sector 15 D. It’s a dusty job dealing with stone, so we’re always wearing boots and heavy clothes. The market is a busy place with trucks coming in and out all the time. Sector 15 D has its own pace, mostly dictated by the loading and unloading of materials. We have different kinds of stones piled up, and they take up a lot of room. Sometimes the rain makes everything a bit of a mess, but we just work through it. We aren't much for sitting behind a desk. Most of the day is spent checking the quality of what comes in and making sure it goes out to the right people. The office is small and usually has grit on the table from the stones outside. We’ve been at Patel Market for a while, so we know most of the other shop owners. We don't use a lot of big words or fancy talk. If a stone is good, we say so. If it’s not, we don't sell it. It’s a straightforward way to do things. The sun can be pretty hot in the open yard, but that’s just part of the work. People come to us because they know we’re always here and we don't play games with the prices or the stock.
