Kumar Gujarathi Foundation

Our foundation is located at Flat 4, 1246 Sadashiv Peth in Pune. If you know this area, you know it’s full of history and very narrow streets. It’s a bit of a squeeze to get a car through here sometimes, but we like being in the heart of the old city. The Kumar Gujarathi Foundation isn't a big, fancy operation. We work out of a simple flat. It’s mostly just a few of us sitting around a couple of tables. We don't have a receptionist or a big lobby. When you come to see us, you’re usually walking right into the middle of whatever we’re working on. We started this because we wanted to give back to the place where we grew up. Sadashiv Peth has a certain way of doing things, and we try to stick to that. We don't use a lot of marketing talk or try to sell anything. We just do what needs to be done. Sometimes the office gets a bit dusty with all the old books and papers, but it feels right. We aren't trying to expand into some massive organization. We’re happy just staying small and helping out where we can. It’s honest work, and it keeps us connected to our roots here in Pune. We just take things one day at a time. We often have a lot of tea and talk about the neighborhood. It’s not very professional, maybe, but it’s real and we like it.
