S. M. Recycling Company

Our yard is out at Gate No. 897 in Kudalwadi. It’s right on the Chikhali Tajpur Road, not far from the Khanna Dyeing plant. If you’ve ever been to this part of Chikhali, you know it’s mostly an industrial zone. There’s always some dust in the air and trucks moving back and forth all day long. S. M. Recycling Company is basically just a big open space where we sort through what people throw away. We deal with a lot of scrap and different materials that need to be processed. It’s noisy and honestly a bit dirty work. We wear heavy gloves and thick boots because there’s sharp metal and heavy items everywhere you look. Some days the sun is really baking the yard, and other days the rain makes everything muddy and slow. We don’t have a fancy reception area or a place for people to sit. If you come by to see us, you’ll probably find us near the scales or moving things around with the forklift. We’ve been at this location for some time now. We know the other business owners on this road, and we all kind of look out for each other. It’s a tough business but someone has to do it. We take the loads as they come and try to keep the piles organized so we can actually see the ground. It’s not a glamorous job at all, but it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday.
