Kothari Ply & Laminates

We are located at 692/693 in Tilak Nagar, right by the Market Yard. As the name says, we deal with plywood and laminates all day long. The shop is basically a giant collection of samples and big heavy sheets of wood. Market Yard is a very busy place, so there’s always a lot of shouting and horns honking outside our door. We spend our time showing people different patterns and types of ply for their homes. It’s a lot of standing and moving heavy boards around to show the grain. My back usually aches by the end of the shift, but that's just part of the job. We have a small corner with a couple of chairs for customers to sit while they decide. It’s not a fancy interior design studio, just a warehouse-style shop. We keep our own records in big ledgers and try to stay on top of what’s in stock. Some days are slow and we just sit and talk, but most days it’s pretty frantic with deliveries. We don't have a big corporate structure or anything. It's just a family-run place where we try to be useful to the people building things in our neighborhood. We’ve been here for years and we know the rhythms of the market pretty well by now. We often have to help people pick out which laminate goes with their paint, even though we aren't experts. We just tell them what we've seen work in other houses over the years. It helps pass the time.
