Out here in Sarali village, things move at a different pace. Kirloskar Constructions And Engineers Ltd is based right here in the Patapatnam area of Srikakulam. It’s a rural spot, so everyone in the village pretty much knows where the office is located. We work on various local projects, mostly dealing with the basic engineering needs that come up around the district. The roads can be a bit rough during the rainy season, which makes getting to the office an adventure sometimes. We don’t have a big corporate setup. It’s just a few rooms with some desks, some old chairs, and a lot of maps of the local mandal. We spend a lot of time traveling between the village and the project sites. Most of our staff are from nearby, so there is a lot of local talk in the mornings. We drink a lot of water because it gets hot in Andhra Pradesh. We aren't trying to be anything we aren't. We just take the work as it comes and try to do a decent job for the people who hire us. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we do a lot of things by hand or on paper. It keeps us busy. You might see our trucks parked near the post office from time to time. We’ve been part of this landscape for a while now, just working through the heat and the dust.
