Kalyani Forge Limited

Kalyani Forge Limited is located out in Koregaon Bhima, which is over in the Shirur area. It is a bit of a drive for most of us to get here, but the commute is just part of the day now. The surroundings are a mix of open fields and other industrial spots that have popped up over time. Once you get inside the gates, things are strictly about the work. We have got the heavy hammers and the furnaces going throughout the different shifts. It gets quite loud inside the building, so hand signals or shouting are common ways to be heard over the noise of the metal being struck. Dust tends to settle on everything, which is just expected when you're working in a forge like this. Water bottles are always kept close by because the heat near the machines is really no joke. Most of the people working here are locals from the Tehsil or the nearby villages. We have seen the whole area change quite a bit over the years, but our daily routine stays pretty much the same. We show up, check the daily schedule, and get right to work on the metal. There is not any fancy furniture in our break room, just a few wooden benches and a place to sit and eat. Talking about the weather or local cricket teams fills the gaps. At Kalyani Forge Limited, looking polished isn't the priority.
