Kala Chappals

If you walk down Laxmi Road in the Kamakshipalya New Extension area, you’ll find us at 598/599. Kala Chappals is a place where we deal with footwear every single day. The smell of leather and glue is pretty much what defines our workspace when you step inside. It’s a busy part of town, so there is always noise coming from the street, mostly horns and people talking. We have boxes stacked up high, sometimes almost reaching the ceiling, and it can get a bit cramped when a new shipment comes in from the suppliers. My family has been involved with shoes for a long time, so it felt natural to have this shop here. We don't have those fancy glass displays you see in the big malls. Here, it’s more about finding the right pair that won’t fall apart after a month of walking on these rough roads. We talk to a lot of people throughout the day, mostly locals who need something reliable for their feet. Sometimes the fans don't work as well as they should in the summer heat, but we stay open anyway. It’s honest work, and we know our inventory inside and out. You won't find anything too flashy here, just the kind of chappals that people actually use. We spend our afternoons sorting through sizes and making sure the shelves aren't too messy, though they usually end up that way by evening. It’s just our daily routine here.
