Jay Matadi Industries

Down here at the Sail Industrial Estate on Dhole Patil Road, things stay pretty busy most of the time. We are tucked into unit 681/40. If you’ve ever walked through an industrial area, you know how it sounds—lots of clanking and the smell of oil and metal. That’s our daily life at Jay Matadi Industries. We do a lot of manufacturing work, mostly stuff that other businesses need to keep their operations going. It’s not the kind of place you’d come for a casual stroll, but if you need something fabricated or a batch of parts made, we’re usually back there working on it. My uncle started this place a long time ago, and we’ve just kept it going. We have a couple of machines that have seen better days but they still run true, and that’s what matters to us. Sometimes the power goes out or the delivery truck is late, and we just sit outside on the stoop and wait it out. It’s a lot of hard work and dirty hands. We don’t spend much time on paperwork or computer stuff if we can help it. We’d rather be on the floor seeing how a project is coming along. It’s noisy and hot in the summer, but we’re used to it by now. Just a bunch of regular guys making things and trying to do a decent job for whoever walks through the door. It keeps the lights on and the families fed.
