Janrakshak Foundation

You can find us over at Pravin Ekanath Pawar’s place in Shramik Nagar. We are located in Survey Number 49/3 in the Dhanori area. It’s a busy part of town now, not like it used to be. The Janrakshak Foundation came about because a few of us felt like the neighborhood was changing too fast and people were getting left behind. We aren't experts or anything, just some locals who care. Our space is pretty cramped with all the papers and old chairs we’ve collected. We spend a lot of time walking around Shramik Nagar, talking to the families and seeing who needs a hand. Sometimes it’s about a leaky pipe, sometimes it’s help with a school form. We don’t have a big budget, so we make do with what we have. People call Pravin at all hours, but he doesn't mind much. It’s just how it is when you’re trying to look out for each other. The traffic on the main road can be a headache, but we’re tucked away enough that it stays okay. We aren't interested in being a big name. We just want to make sure the folks in Dhanori have someone to turn to when things get tough. It’s plain and simple work, and we’re happy to do it. Just neighbors helping neighbors, really. It keeps us busy and feels like the right thing to do.
