Janjira Welfare Foundation

We’re based out in Pune, specifically in the Kothrud area. Our office is in the Mahatma Society, plots 330, near SN 62 65. It’s a decent neighborhood, a bit quieter than the main city center which we appreciate. Janjira Welfare Foundation is just our small operation here. We have a few desks, a couple of filing cabinets, and some plastic chairs for visitors. It’s not a very big space, but it fits us. We spend most of our time answering letters, filing papers, and sorting out local issues that come our way. Pune has changed a lot lately, but Kothrud still feels like home to many of us. We have a set routine. We start at nine, and we finish when the work is finally done. Sometimes we stay late if there’s a big pile of paperwork to get through. The neighbors are nice people. We try not to make too much noise during the day. We don’t have any fancy signs or big expensive ads. People just find us by word of mouth or by looking at the directory. It’s a humble setup. We drink a lot of chai during the afternoon slump to keep ourselves going. Every day brings something a little bit different. One day it’s helping a neighbor with a problem, the next it’s filing reports for the city. We don’t overthink the process. We just show up and do the work that’s sitting in front of us. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy. We like the pace here.
