Janbharati Foundation

Our foundation is set up at plot number 44, house number 388, right near the 4th bus stop in Fulewadi. Having the bus stop so close is actually quite handy because you can hear the buses pulling up and the conductor's whistle throughout the day. It gives the place a certain rhythm. The zip code here is 416010 if you are looking it up on a map. The building itself is pretty sturdy and has been part of the neighborhood for a while. We have a small front area where we sometimes keep some potted plants, though they don't always get enough water when we get busy. Inside, it’s mostly just shelves and a couple of old wooden tables we use for our work. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but they have character this way. It feels like a lived-in space where actual things get done, not some sterile showroom. We like being in Fulewadi because it feels like a real community where everyone is just trying to get by and help out where they can. You can smell the tea being made at the stall down the road every morning around ten. It’s a very normal, everyday kind of place for us to be based. We just open up in the morning, do the tasks on our list, and head home when the sun goes down. There’s nothing fancy about it, but it works for what we need. It isn't like the big offices in the city, but it works for us.
