James Brown

The shop is called James Brown and we are over in Mohan Nagar. You can find us near the petrol pump in Chinchwad. It’s a busy corner with cars and bikes always zooming by. I’ve been working out of this small space for quite some time now. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but I never seem to find the time or the energy to do it. There is a small radio in the corner that plays the local news and some music throughout the day. People drop off things and come back later to pick them up. It’s a one-man show mostly, though sometimes a friend stops by to help out for an hour or two. The floor is made of old tiles that are cracked in a few places. I have a wooden counter where I do all the transactions and keep my tools. Being near the petrol pump means there is always a smell of fuel in the air, but you get used to it after a week or so. Chinchwad is a fast-growing area, but our little corner feels like it stays the same. I open up early and stay until the sun goes down. It’s a simple routine that keeps me busy and pays the bills. There’s nothing fancy about how I run things here. I just take things as they come and try to get the work done right.
